My One Word for 2020

One word for the New Year could Change Everything

A new year always opens conversations about who we've been, who we'd like to become, and how we'd like things to change in our lives...

But not only is a new year on the horizon, a new decade. That's extra special.

We feel the normal year-end drive to make the next year better.

We ALSO can't help but think of who we were ten years ago. How much things have changed since then. Where we thought we'd be by this time, and how different we are from what our 2010 selves desired. We want to know how to make the next 10 years of our lives, the best 10 years of our lives.

It puts a whole new perspective on New Year’s Resolutions. Can we resolve to know everything we want to do in the next decade? What about starting with the next year? It might look to be a challenge but I learned a way to make it more simple and effective.

Which is why I’m sharing what I learned with you today—

I no longer do resolutions.

I choose one word.

One word that I want to focus on every year, one word that embodies all my intentions and goals for the year, one word that steers me and keeps me focused, aligned with my purpose.

My One Word for 2020 was ..INTENTIONAL: Intentional in my morning routine starting with  spending time with God and planning the day,  intentional in focusing on what is important in my  family, friends, health and business and intentional in setting short and long term goals.

For 2019 I had two words --  Believe and frugal.  I focused on believing and trusting more in God, others and myself and was more conscious and disciplined financially and with my time.

Do you have a word for 2020?
