Focused or Fearful?
Throughout time it has been noted that the two greatest motivators in history are fear and greed. As Love Inspired Boutique tries to spread more love, we still know how tangible and universal fear is. Threats of pandemics, wars, abuse of power in the political climate, and more sweep not only the nation but the world. What can we do about it? How can we wake up each day without fear of the tragic happenings that are all around us?
It is only when people fail to acknowledge fear or acknowledge it too much that it becomes a problem. When we begin to find balance in the following 4 areas, we can make it easier on ourselves to live a life not ruled by fear.
1. Find balance in your focus. Media and social media can tip the scale in a negative way towards things that cause fear. One way we see this is with public health safety. If the media only reports the negative and the numbers that go with it, we as people lean towards panic. But if we broaden our focus and realize that in the context of the big picture the cases of public health threats are small, and most people survive threats of contagions and viruses that occur throughout the years. Focus on broader pictures, rather than narrow viewpoints.
2. Find balance in your presence. Many times, we are living in the past and reliving what has hurt us before. If we live in the present and realize that those things can not hurt us anymore, we can stay clear of the fears of worry, rejection, failure and other emotional based fears. 3. Find balance in your identity. Scripture says that God has not given us the spirit of fear but the spirit of love, power, and a sound mind. Realizing that fear is not in your DNA can get you off on a good foot in the mornings. You can start the day knowing fear is influenced by external factors, and if we fortify our internal beliefs in God the fears cannot penetrate us.
4. Find balance in gratitude. When you're in fear, it is very easy to feel like your thoughts & emotions are all over the place. Gratitude creates a place for all those feelings to come together and dissolve. It allows you to feel centered and balanced again instead of feeling out of control. Fear and gratitude cannot exist in the same space.
